Fuji-san

I'm climbing Mt Fuji tomorrow!

We're climbing through the night so as to reach the summit by sunrise. Gonna be very hard, but an amazing experience!

We leave Shinjuku on a bus at 7:30 in the morning (oh god getting up that early tomorrow is going to be harder than the actual climb, I think!), then arrive at the 5th station of Fuji at about midday. Then we climb for a few hours till we reach the 8th station, where we will be staying in a hut. We'll have dinner, then sleep/rest for a few hours, before starting to climb the rest of the way at around 2am Wednesday morning. We should reach the summit around 4:30 am, in time for sunrise, all going to plan.

Then we start the climb down (said to be the worst part), stopping back at the hut for breakfast, and then climbing the rest of the way down. We catch the bus back sometime in the afternoon, stopping by a hot spring for a soak somewhere along the way, apparently.

Wish me luck! (and also pray that Fuji-san doesn't choose tomorrow night to roar back into life - it's listed as an active volcano with low risk of eruption, but that's more than dormant!)

That sounds really cool. And I wasn't saying that in a Joel Gilmore pisstake kind of way.
